Structural steel double-leaf gates on 8 in round steel gate posts, 12 ft and 16 ft clear standard and 20 ft clear custom, with a lockable latch box, cane bolts in slab sleeves and hold-open cane bolts. Fence lines built like a screen wall: structural steel posts with solid steel slats for a 100% opaque face, or spaced slats and perforated metal panels where you want air and light through. Engineered to ASCE 7-22 for your site.
Structural steel double-leaf gates on 8 in round steel gate posts, with a lockable latch box, cane bolts in slab sleeves and hold-open cane bolts. 12 ft and 16 ft clear standard; 20 ft clear custom. Every gate is function-tested before it ships.
Plan a clear opening of 12 ft per front-load container. That is the dominant rule in hauler and city standards: Tucson, Lee County FL, Albuquerque and Boise all specify 12 ft, and Republic Services nets 11.5 ft after gates and posts (standards checked 2026-09-29). Alpine Citadel's standard gates are 12 ft and 16 ft clear double leaves.
"Clear" means the unobstructed width between the open leaves and posts, the width the truck actually uses. Ask for the clear dimension, not the nominal gate size, when comparing suppliers.

12 ft clear double leaf on 8 in round steel gate posts.
Every Alpine gate is structural steel, hung on 8 in round steel gate posts, and engineered for its site as part of the Alpine Citadel system. Alpine custom fabricates any enclosure design, including several gates in one enclosure and corner-hinged gates.
Standard double enclosures use two 12 ft clear gates on a shared center post (see trash & recycling enclosures). Some jurisdictions prohibit center posts; there, a double with one wide opening is designed per project.
Beyond width, most standards ask for gates that swing wide, hold open during service, lock closed and hang on their own posts. Opacity rules sometimes apply to the gate as well as the walls. Confirm the local standard before the gate is detailed.
Every Alpine Citadel gate ships with a heavy-duty lockable latch box, cane bolts that drop into slab sleeves to hold the leaves closed, and hold-open cane bolts that hold them open for the hauler. Every gate is function-tested before it ships, and the kit includes spare hardware (10% extra).
A cane bolt is a steel rod with a handle, mounted on the gate leaf, that drops into a sleeve or socket in the pavement to hold the leaf in position. On an enclosure gate, one set holds the leaves closed and a second set holds them open. Haulers expect both. A drop rod does the same job.

The gate post, its base plate and its anchors. Alpine hangs every leaf on an 8 in round steel gate post, hot-dip galvanized and capped, on a ¾ in hot-dip galvanized gate base plate of 18½ × 13 in with eight ¾ in anchors. In the typical configuration, the slab is thickened to 30 × 30 × 12 in at each gate post; the project engineer designs the slab.
Installers attribute most sag to light hardware and to gate posts working loose or heaving out of the concrete (American Welding, 2026). A wide leaf is a long lever on its hinge post, and it is loaded every time the gate swings, is pushed by wind or is bumped by a container. Alpine addresses that at the post: the gate post, base plate, anchors and slab zone are sized by project engineering for the leaf width and the site's wind, rather than taken from a catalog. Cane bolts restrain the leaves in both the closed and open positions, so a parked leaf isn't left swinging in the wind.
On an Alpine Citadel enclosure, the engineered gates, gate posts and hardware are included in the enclosure price. Typical installed cost for an 8 ft Alpine Citadel enclosure, excluding slab and site work, is $15,000–20,000 for a single and $21,000–30,000 for a double, including the engineering package for standard sizes. Program pricing for multi-site rollouts is available on request. For comparison, on a masonry enclosure a 12 ft steel gate pair typically costs $4,000–8,000 installed (American Welding, fabricator pricing, 2026).
Dumpster enclosure cost guideYes. Any RAL color is available over galvanized steel. Gates can be placed anywhere in the layout, several per enclosure, including corner-hinged gates, and wide single openings where a jurisdiction prohibits center posts. Send your drawing; the layout, bay schedule and engineering package come back in under one week.
Custom fabricationUse Alpine's gate CAD details (plan, elevation, gate post and base plate) and call out: clear opening, leaf configuration, swing direction, hold-open positions, cane bolt sleeve locations in the slab and the thickened slab at gate posts. Alpine's guide spec is Section 32 31 19, cross-referenced to 32 35 00.
Commercial and industrial fence lines built like a screen wall: structural steel posts, solid steel tube slats for a 100% opaque face, or spaced slats and perforated metal panels where you want air and light through. Engineered to ASCE 7-22 for your site. Custom fabricated for any enclosure design.
A steel slat fence is a fence made of horizontal steel slats held between steel posts. Alpine's version uses the Alpine Citadel system: 4 in square structural steel posts on ¾ in base plates and solid steel tube slats, 0.79 × 3.15 in (20 × 80 mm), that slide captive into the post channels and stack tight into a 100% opaque face. It is built for commercial and industrial perimeter screening, and Alpine custom fabricates any layout.
Choose by what the fence has to do. Solid slats screen completely; spaced slats and perforated metal panels let air and some light through. All three use the same structural steel posts and are engineered per project.
Spaced slats and perforated panels also reduce wind load under the ASCE 7 porous-wall provisions; the reduction is calculated per project.
Alpine builds 6, 7 and 8 ft as standard and from 5 ft to 10 ft on custom projects; other heights by engineering. Under IBC §105.2, fences not over 7 ft are exempt from a building permit (2024 IBC wording via UpCodes, checked 2026-09-29); taller fences usually need one. Alpine provides sealed calculations in all 50 states for the permit set.
A solid 8 ft fence line catches the full wind on every bay. Alpine carries it on 4 in square structural steel tube posts (HSS 4 × 4) on hot-dip galvanized ¾ in base plates, with custom post profiles and sizes where the height or wind speed requires them, and embedded posts as a custom option where there is no slab. Every project is designed to ASCE 7-22, with steel per AISC 360 and anchorage per ACI 318 Chapter 17, and checked for its own wind speed, exposure, risk category, height, anchor type and foundation.

Solid, spaced and perforated infill on the same structural steel posts.
Both are sold as slat fences; the difference is the structure and the finish system. Alpine builds in structural steel, galvanized and then powder coated to Qualicoat standards with UV-resistant superdurable polyester. AAMA 2603, 2604 and 2605 are coating standards for aluminum and don't apply to steel. For galvanized steel with a powder topcoat, the American Galvanizers Association reports duplex systems lasting 1.5–2.3 times the sum of the two coatings' individual lives (AGA, checked 2026-09-29).
Chain link with privacy slats is an insert woven into wire mesh. Alpine's fence is a steel screen wall: structural steel posts and solid steel tube slats that stack tight into a 100% opaque face. Some codes limit chain link with slats: Escondido CA allows it for enclosures only in non-visible industrial areas (Guidelines rev 6/2019), while New Braunfels TX and Eugene OR accept slatted chain link (municipal codes, checked 2026-09-29).
Galvanized steel throughout: hot-dip galvanized base plates, sleeves and round gate posts; electro-galvanized square posts, channels and slats. Then a powder coat to Qualicoat standards with UV-resistant superdurable polyester, in any RAL color. Full hot-dip galvanized posts are available where site location and exposure call for them.
Finish and color sheetYes. Standard gates are 12 ft or 16 ft clear, double leaf and swing out; 20 ft clear gates are custom, engineered per project. 6 ft single leaves and several gates per run are also available as custom options, each on 8 in round steel gate posts with a lockable latch box.
GatesAlpine fencing is perimeter screening: it hides what's behind it, marks the line and closes with lockable gates. It is not a rated barrier and carries no intrusion or vehicle-impact rating. If the project specifies a rated barrier, that is a different product class.
